Walkthrough

The quest journal, step by step.

1. Start

   Maloton, a pilot of the Fifth Cataract, sits on the edge of Abu Hamed, listening to silence. (Requires Ropes for the Fourth Cataract, Wayfaring 60 and Stonework 55.)

2. Stage 1

   The pilots of the Fifth Cataract signal to each other by striking the ringing rocks, boulders that sing like gongs. They have gone silent. Maloton wants me to go down to the Fifth Cataract and see why.

3. Stage 2

   Nile monitors have nested among the ringing rocks and bite anyone who comes near them. Four of them need to go.

   To do: Kill 4 × Nile monitor
4. Stage 3

   The monitors are gone, but the old gong-striker went into the river with the last pilot who tried. I should shape a new one from two lumps of hematite with a chisel (Stonework 55).

   To do: Get Gong-stone striker
5. Stage 4

   I have a new gong-striker. I should use it on Maloton.

   To do: Use Gong-stone striker on Maloton, pilot of the Fifth Cataract
6. Stage 5

   Maloton has gone down to strike the rocks. I should talk to him.

7. Complete

   The ringing rocks sing again. Maloton's pilots will carry me between Abu Hamed and Berber, through the Fifth Cataract.
