Walkthrough

The quest journal, step by step.

  1. Start

Webaset, a priest of Wepwawet in Asyut, is complaining about the neighbours. The neighbours are dead. (Requires The Standard of Wepwawet and Warfare 25.)

  2. Stage 1

The dead of the cliff tombs north of Asyut are walking at all hours. Webaset asked me to put 5 of the restless dead back down.

To do: Kill 5 × Restless deadUpdated by talking to Webaset, lector of Wepwawet
  3. Stage 2

The dead keep getting up again. Webaset says whoever leads them must be spoken to: the ka of Hapdjefa, the old nomarch, at his tomb on the cliff just north of town.

  4. Stage 3

Hapdjefa's ka says the priests broke his ten contracts: bread and beer before his statue at every feast, forever. Until they keep them, his dead are on strike. His restless dead stole the temple's copy of the contracts to read it out at the priests. I should search the restless dead for it.

  5. Stage 4

I found the papyrus of the Ten Contracts. I should show it to Webaset (use it on him).

To do: Use The Ten Contracts on Webaset, lector of WepwawetUpdated by talking to Ka of Hapdjefa
  6. Stage 5

Webaset read the contracts, and 'perpetuity' turns out to be a very long time. I should take the offering to Hapdjefa's ka myself: 2 loaves of bread and 2 jugs of beer.

  7. Complete

Hapdjefa had his feast, after a fashion, and his dead lay down again. He gave me his bodyguard's jackal helm and the secret of his smiths: casting maces.
