Khnumhotep, Keeper of the Nilometer, is staring down the Nilometer stairs in Aswan as if the river owes him money. (Requires Satet's Arrows and Heka 40.)
- Stage 1
It is the season of the flood, yet the Nilometer shows the river falling. Khnumhotep asked me to go upriver to Ibshek, on the west bank, and ask Isetnofret, songstress of Hathor, what the river has been saying.
Updated by talking to Khnumhotep, priest of Khnum - Stage 2
Isetnofret says the cataract groans at night, like a throat swallowing. I should hunt the serpent-spawn crawling up the cataract bank south of Aswan and bring Khnumhotep proof: a scale would do.

- Stage 3
I have a serpent scale. I should show it to Khnumhotep.

Khnumhotep knows what drinks the flood: a child of Apep, coiled in the rapids. He taught me the Gate of Khnum, so I can return to Aswan in a breath.
