Walkthrough

The quest journal, step by step.

1. Start

   Aws of Dedan says frankincense is the most precious thing in the world, and the most dangerous to gather. (Requires The Incense Road and Fieldcraft 65.)

2. Stage 1

   The frankincense trees that grow wild in the desert are guarded by winged serpents, which the gatherers drive off with the smoke of burning storax. I should get some storax; Aws and the Caravanserai of Tayma sell it.

   To do: Get StoraxUpdated by talking to Aws the spice-trader
3. Stage 2

   I have storax. Its smoke should send the winged serpents up off the trees, angry. I should kill five of them, at the old shrines in the desert north and south of Dedan.

   To do: Kill 5 × Winged serpent
4. Stage 3

   The serpents keep coming. Aws says they are all the brood of one great Mother, who nests at the old shrine far south of Dedan and never leaves her perch. I should use storax on her to smoke her down.

   To do: Use Storax on Mother of the Winged Serpents
5. Stage 4

   The Mother of the Winged Serpents came down in a rage. I must kill her.

   To do: Kill 1 × Mother of the Winged Serpents
6. Stage 5

   The Mother is dead. I should tell Aws.

7. Complete

   Aws says the frankincense of the desert is mine to tap. He taught me how the serpent-scales are sewn into mail, and the gatherers' charm: the Gaze of the Winged Serpent.
