The quest journal, step by step.
- Start
Kasaya, a Medjay scout near Captain Nehesy's post in Memphis, has been watching me. She looks like she has questions, or answers. (Requires A Stranger in Men-nefer.)
- Stage 1
Kasaya thinks the vizier buried my report about the 'master in the white walls'. Captain Nehesy wants it looked into, quietly. She wants me to question a perfume-seller in the Memphis market who wears the red of Set under her shawl.
Updated by talking to Kasaya - Stage 2
The perfume-seller is Henuttawy, a priestess of Set, and she says Set's priests fight Apep, not feed him. The cultists I killed at Akhetaten wore Set's red over a coiled-snake tattoo: the Coil, a cult of Apep. Their trail leads to the Serapeum at Saqqara, where the Apis bulls are buried. I should find Pashed, the old keeper of the bulls.
Updated by talking to Henuttawy - Stage 3
Coil acolytes are digging in the bull-galleries of the Serapeum, in the south of Saqqara. Pashed wants six of them gone.
To do: Kill 6 × Coil acolyteUpdated by talking to Pashed, keeper of the bulls - Stage 4
The acolytes are dealt with. I should tell Pashed.
- Stage 5
The Coil has woken a dead Apis bull around something burning in its ribs: something that looks like my own scarab. Pashed says the False Apis must be put down. It roams the south-west of Saqqara.
To do: Kill 1 × The False ApisUpdated by talking to Pashed, keeper of the bulls - Stage 6
The False Apis is down. Pashed will want to see what was burning inside it.
- Stage 7
Inside the False Apis was a scarab, the second of the seven. Pashed found a Coil ledger too, every page sealed 'Ptah is satisfied'. I should take both to Ptahmose, High Priest of Ptah, at the temple in Memphis.
Updated by talking to Pashed, keeper of the bulls - Complete
Ptahmose read the seal: 'Ptah is satisfied' is Ptah-hotep, the vizier's own name. He also told me the vizier ordered a life-sized shabti of himself last month. He set the Scarab of the Apis for me and gave me the False Apis's horns on a helm, and Apis, the living bull whose dead brothers I laid to rest, has taken an interest. The master in the white walls has a name now, and an office, and guards.
