Walkthrough

The quest journal, step by step.

1. Start

   Chief Lector Ikhernofret at the Temple of Osiris in Abydos is staging the Mysteries of Osiris, and something has gone wrong. (Requires A Stranger in Men-nefer, Heka 30 and Devotion 25.)

2. Stage 1

   Every year Abydos plays out the death and rising of Osiris. This year Pentu, the actor who plays Set, has run home to Tjeny, just north of Abydos, and won't come out. I should fetch him.

3. Stage 2

   Pentu won't come back: someone nailed a red-painted donkey's skull to his door with a note, 'Lose properly this year'. He gave me his Mask of Set and told me to play Set myself. I should take the mask to Ikhernofret.

4. Stage 3

   Ikhernofret has cast me as Set (he seemed delighted). But the cultists who threatened Pentu are in the crowd: four red-handed zealots skulking in the old cemetery south-west of Abydos. I should deal with them first.

5. Stage 4

   The zealots are dealt with. Time for the performance: I should speak to Ikhernofret when I'm ready to go on.

6. Complete

   I played Set in the Mysteries of Osiris, and lost magnificently. Ikhernofret taught me the Gate of Osiris.
