- Stage 1
Bebi must send a perfect block of greywacke down to Coptos for a royal sarcophagus lid, and every block he cuts cracks. He says only Min can choose the stone, and told me, quite seriously, to watch for a sign.

A gazelle heavy with young picked her way through the quarry, looked me in the eye, and trotted off to a dark outcrop of greywacke. Bebi would call that a sign. I should mine a block of greywacke from the outcrops.

The gazelle gave birth on the very outcrop I'd quarried, and Bebi declared it a miracle of Min. The block went down to Coptos without a crack in it. Bebi has carved the whole tale on the wadi wall, and spelled my name wrong.
