  2. Stage 1

The kandake has heard of me from Haremakhet and Teqorid. The Coil's iron has been going east, to the Blemmyes, desert raiders who prey on Meroe's caravans. Her son Akinidad, at the east edge of the city, will tell me where they camp.

  4. Stage 3

The raiders are scattered. I should report to the kandake.

  5. Stage 4

Kharabai, Warlord of the Blemmyes, the man who took the kandake's eye, has come out to fight in the desert east of the queens' pyramids. Amanirenas wants his head. Figuratively. Mostly.

  6. Stage 5

Kharabai is dead. I should tell the kandake.

  7. Complete

Kharabai carried a letter from the Coil: the iron and gold were payment for guarding a door 'among the sleeping kings across the river from Napata'. Amanirenas gave me her own spear, and the road of the kandakes.
