Requirements

Walkthrough

The quest journal, step by step.

1. Start

Hiram, foreman of the woodcutters of Byblos, is sitting on the south side of the city with an axe across his knees and no intention of using it. (Requires The Report of Wenamun, Fieldcraft 65 and Warfare 65.)

2. Stage 1

Hiram says the Coil's thieves felled the sacred cedar, and now the forest groans at night and the woodcutters won't go in. I should go into the Cedar Forest and see.

To do: Go to The Cedar ForestUpdated by talking to Hiram the woodcutter
3. Stage 2

The forest is roaring, and wolves are running in packs under the cedars: Humbaba's hounds, Hiram calls them. I should thin them out: five wolves of Lebanon.

To do: Kill 5 × Wolf of Lebanon
4. Stage 3

The wolves have scattered, but something deeper in the forest is still breathing. I should tell Hiram.

5. Stage 4

Hiram says the old songs are true: the gods set Humbaba, the Keeper of the Cedars, to guard the forest, and the felled cedar has woken him. He wears seven radiances like cloaks. He lies deep in the forest, south-east of Byblos. I must face him.

To do: Kill 1 × Humbaba, Keeper of the CedarsUpdated by talking to Hiram the woodcutter
6. Stage 5

Humbaba is dead, and the forest is quiet. I should tell Hiram.

7. Complete

Hiram's woodcutters are back among the cedars, planting one for every one they cut. Hiram gave me his own axe, and the Lady of Byblos taught me her barque.
