Somebody stole the three white mares of Astarte, Lady of Horses, out of the temple stable. Batnoam says that if anyone in Canaan has been offered white mares, it's Zimredda the horse-dealer of Lachish.

Zimredda was offered the mares by Habiru horse-thieves, and turned them down, he says, out of piety. The thieves camp in the hills south of Lachish, on the road towards Shechem. I should get the mares back: four of the horse-thieves should persuade the rest.

The white mares are home in Astarte's stable. Batnoam taught me to fight like a warhorse, and gave me a brass from a mare's brow-band.
