Walkthrough

The quest journal, step by step.

1. Start

   Djehutymose, a lector of Thoth in Khmun, has a theory. Nobody wants to hear it. (Requires The Baboons of Khmun, Heka 30 and Scribing 20.)

2. Stage 1

   The baboons knocked the name-plates off the eight statues in the Shrine of the Eight. Djehutymose wants me to set them back: four frog-headed gods, each with his snake-headed wife. He says the wives' names are their husbands' names wearing a dress.

3. Stage 2

   The Eight are in order. Djehutymose wants a fragment of the Egg the sun hatched from. The temple sold one long ago to a collector in Per-Medjed, Nebsen, north along the west bank. I should ask him for it.

4. Stage 3

   Nebsen will trade the shell for a fair copy of the Hymn to Thoth. I should write one at a temple shrine (Scribing 20: a papyrus sheet and 3 cakes of black ink).

5. Stage 4

   I have a fair copy of the Hymn to Thoth. I should bring it to Nebsen in Per-Medjed.

6. Stage 5

   Nebsen gave me the Shell of the First Egg. I should give it to Djehutymose in Khmun (use it on him).

7. Stage 6

   Djehutymose has the shell, and it's warm. I should hear his theory. All of it, apparently.

8. Complete

   Djehutymose believes the sun can be hatched again. He taught me the Gate of Thoth, so I can come back to Khmun when he needs me.
