Walkthrough

The quest journal, step by step.

1. Start

   Ilimilku, chief scribe of the temple of Baal at Ugarit, hasn't slept since the singing started. (Requires Tin of Ugarit, The Purple of Tyre, Devotion 60 and Endurance 60.)

2. Stage 1

   Every night the Coil's people sing to the sea west of Ugarit, and every night the sea answers. Ilimilku wrote down the old song: Baal struck down Lotan, the Twisting Serpent with seven heads, and Anat boasted she had muzzled him. If Lotan wakes, someone must be ready. He sent me to Pughat, handmaid of Anat, in the temple.

3. Stage 2

   Pughat says Anat won't lend her strength to the untried. I should prove myself on Lotan's brood on the shore west of the city: four Spawn of Lotan.

4. Stage 3

   Four of the brood are dead, and Anat has seen it. Pughat will prepare me for the goddess's rite, and Anat goes to war painted in murex-purple: I should bring Pughat a cake of Tyrian purple.

5. Stage 4

   Anat has heard. Lotan, the Twisting Serpent, has risen on the shore west of Ugarit, and I must put him back to sleep. For good.

6. Stage 5

   Lotan is dead and the sea is quiet. I should tell Ilimilku.

7. Complete

   Ilimilku has added a verse to the song of Baal. Anat, Lady of Battle, will answer me now; Ilimilku taught me Baal's lightning-spear, and Pughat made me a buckler of the serpent's scales.
