Walkthrough

The quest journal, step by step.

1. Start

   Merit-Hathor, a chantress of Hathor in Qis, is staring into a bronze mirror that shows her nothing at all.

2. Stage 1

   The Festival of Drunkenness is near, when Qis remembers how Ra's raging Eye was tricked into drinking red beer and became gentle Hathor again. But this year the goddess won't show herself in the chantress's mirror. Merit-Hathor wants red beer, as in the story: 3 jugs of beer, and a lump of hematite for the ochre.

3. Stage 2

   The beer is dyed red as blood. But wild bulls from the western hills have broken into the fields south of Qis and smashed the festival jars. I should drive off 2 of them.

4. Stage 3

   The bulls are dealt with. I should go back to Merit-Hathor for the festival.

5. Complete

   At the festival, the goddess's mirror showed my reflection, with my scarab amulet shining like a little sun. 'The Eye returns to its father,' said a voice, 'when its father is there to return to.'
