The quest journal, step by step.
- Start
Prince Khaemwaset has news from the Medjay runners. (Requires Where the Flood Begins, Endurance 55 and Metalwork 30.)
- Stage 1
Tutu, the chamberlain who stole the fourth scarab, was seen going east from Coptos through the Wadi Hammamat toward the Red Sea, with Coil quarry-men to guard him. I should follow him to the Wadi Hammamat mines.
To do: Go to Wadi Hammamat MineUpdated by talking to Man in linen - Stage 2
Coil quarry-brutes hold the Wadi Hammamat mines. Six of them should loosen their grip, and one of them may be carrying Tutu's orders.
To do: Kill 6 × Coil quarry-brute - Stage 3
One of the brutes carried a note: 'Port Mersa. Wait for the ship. -T.' I should find Tutu at Port Mersa, on the Red Sea coast.
- Stage 4
Tutu is in the stocks at Port Mersa, arrested for not paying his mooring fees. On his way east he showed Hathor the scarab's stolen light at her turquoise temple, Serabit el-Khadim in Sinai, and woke her rage. I should go to Serabit el-Khadim and find Priestess Sitamun, her chantress.
Updated by talking to Man in the stocks - Stage 5
Sitamun says the goddess has become the Eye of Ra again, the raging lioness who once nearly ate mankind. Red beer won't fool her a third time. But no goddess can stay angry while a sistrum is shaken for her: I should make one from a bar of bronze and a turquoise at an anvil (Metalwork 30). Sitamun sells both. The Lady's own sistrum, if I have it, would do as well.
To do: GetTemple sistrum; Use
Sistrum of the Lady on The Lady of TurquoiseUpdated by talking to Priestess Sitamun
- Stage 6
I have a sistrum. I should shake it for the raging lioness at Serabit el-Khadim (use it on her).
To do: UseTemple sistrum on The Lady of Turquoise
- Stage 7
The Eye listened, swayed, lay down, and woke as Hathor, Lady of Turquoise, and kissed my hands. Tutu's ship lies in the bay at Port Mersa, guarded by the Coil's serpent of the Red Sea, on the shore east of the town. It has to die.
To do: Kill 1 × Serpent of the Red Sea - Stage 8
The serpent of the Red Sea is dead and Tutu's ship is mine. The scarab isn't on it. I should have a word with Tutu, in his stocks.
- Complete
Tutu spat the fourth scarab out from under his tongue, and Hathor's kiss burned it clean in my hand: the Scarab of the Aten. But Tutu laughed while he did it. The vizier never needed to keep it, he said; he only took it so I'd go and fetch all the others. Seven scarabs are in my hands. The vizier is waiting for them.
